Creating a Christmas Shadow Box Decoration for the Holidays

Repurposing (Upcycled) House Decorations: Using Shadow Boxes to Celebrate the Season

Yesterday, I was cleaning out my cabinet and saw the shadow boxes picture frames that I use to put our family pictures. I got a flash of inspiration! Wouldnโ€™t it be great to cut up some old Christmas cards and put them in the shadow boxes to decorate for the Christmas season?

Here are some old cards that I had lying around from my motherโ€™s card collection. My mother was obsessed with greeting cards of all types, and she collected them like a fiend. Most of the time, she got them for free in some fashion or another, like through those annoying pleas for donations that come in the mail.

I cut out the card and put it in one of the frames. This one had a mat so it made it easier. The others did not.

Voila! Instant Christmas decorations!

    • Actually, I bought these over eBay and they were really inexpensive. I bought some other shadow boxes (that have dried roses from my mom’s funeral in them) at Michael’s with a 50% off coupon.
