At the end of the week, there is nothing better than having a date with The Husband. I def need that time to stay connected. So I compiled this list of relaxing activities for couples can do at home to chill with each other.
When we got married, my mother gave me some good advice. She told me that each week, go on a date with your husband. Don’t talk about the children, the bills, the pets. Just go out and spend time with the person you love. And that’s exactly what we’ve done every Friday.
But lately, we’ve had to tighten the purse strings. Hello, COVID and inflation. So, we need to have things that are low-cost but high-connection-impact. Here’s some ideas for you.

12 Relaxing Activities For Couples At Home
1. Workout Together

Get the your heart pumping with your sweats on. Having a shared gym routine helps maintain your relationship, keeps you focused, and gets you motivated. Suggestions to try: talking a walk after dinner, jogging in the park, lifting weights, taking an online Zumba class, or dancing.
2. Take A Class (Over Zoom!)

Learning doesn’t have to be boring when you’re doing it with the one you love. Try a language class, a class from your local community college, or something you always wanted to learn, like crocheting or making omelets. Whatever your fancy, there’s a class for it.
3. Learn New Recipes by Cooking Together

Get out your online or paperback recipe books or look up a recipe online. Spend some quality time with your partner by having an intimate evening preparing a restaurant-quality meal for two. The best part is that you get to eat what you made. Or, if one of you doesn’t like to cook, just hanging out with each other while the other cooks is great time too.
4. Have A Romantic At-Home Spa Date

Check out a few YouTube videos first to learn the fundamentals of performing the perfect couple’s massage, buy some massage oil, and prepare to unwind. Massaging each other is an intimate and relaxing way to treat yourselves to the perfect at-home date.
Another perfect idea is sharing a tub because nothing says romance like relaxing in a hot bath with your partner. If you don’t have time to spend a few hours massaging each other, a nice hot bath is a happy compromise. Letting yourself relax and unwind with your partner is an intimate way to bond. Or, if you have a hot tub, that’s even better.
You can also search your bathroom cabinets for moisturizers, face masks, and any other cosmetic products you’ve been storing for a special occasion. Put on your robes, boil some spa water with cucumbers and lemons, and enjoy a night of relaxation. An added bonus? Your skin will thank you for that inadvertent extra attention.
5. Have A Picnic

Changing your regular eating location can sometimes be enough to shake things up. Try turning mundane moments into magical experiences. Gather some delectable ingredients like cheese, baguettes, grapes, and any other finger foods. Then, spread a blanket on the floor of your living room or in your backyard and enjoy a romantic evening in your ordinary living space.
6. Or A Romantic Candle-Lit Dinner

Remember that delish meal you just cooked? Why not make it into a great at-home date idea? Light candles, tell ghost stories, have a romantic dinner, or even reminisce on the early days of your relationship by remembering your fond founding memories. The best part is that you put the devices away, you can come up with the most fun activities to do with your partner.
7. Do At-Home Yoga or Meditation

You may not be sure where to start if you’re a beginner. Some poses are really simple, while others may be a little more difficult. But what is a couple’s yoga challenge without some difficult positions to try? This relaxing date idea is ideal for getting close and personal with your partner. You can make it into a fun challenge by printing out yoga postures and randomly selecting which pose to practice next. Downward dog, anyone?
8. Movie Night

How about planning an all-out movie night, including popcorn and movie snacks? Rent a streamed movie from Amazon Prime. You can watch it on the computer (in the backyard) or on the sofa. Either way, be sure to cuddle up next to your date.
9. Have A Home-Style Wine Tasting Date Night

Purchase a few bottles and pretend to be a sommelier. Swirl your glasses to see if you can detect any flavor notes or to decide which wine you prefer.
You could also hide the labels and see if you can guess which wine is the cheapest and which is the most costly based just on flavor. You might just be surprised to find that it’s quite difficult to tell the difference!
If wine isn’t your thing, you can do the same thing with cheese or even different varieties of fruit.
10. Have A Bake-Off At Home
Nothing gets the love notes singing … or baking … like a little competition. Convert your kitchen into a Cupcake Wars scenario and see who makes the most delectable fresh-baked cakes or muffins. Even if your creations aren’t as visually appealing as the recipes, they’ll still taste amazing. Nothing says relaxing date ideas like enjoying quality time with your partner by making sweet treats and other tasty baked goods.
And if you have kids, they’ll certainly devour the leftovers the next day.
11. Have A Mini Art Session Date
Gather your art tools: crayons, markers, watercolors, or even odd pens from your trash drawer. Dare each other to sketch the same image. You and your partner can also start separate pictures and every 5 to 20 minutes, you swap the page and add to it. After a few rounds, the results are often hilarious!
You could also attempt sketching each other’s portraits as an extra challenge – If you’re not afraid of the inevitable caricature that is!
Not a good artist? Try some other kind of art, like photography or even crocheting. Or, make yourself a “painting at home” studio with a few ceramic pieces like unglazed ceramic coasters or a pottery kit.
12. Play a Game
A game doesn’t need to be electronic (but if you and your honey like video games, all the merrier). Chess, cards, board games, or even funny Truth or Dare. Or … how about some … strip poker?
13. Bonus: Sit On The Porch And Chat
One of the reasons I fell in love with my house was the big porch. We can sit outside and just talk. It’s so quiet that we can hear the rain moving in. Some of my best times are just sitting there, drinking coffee, and staying connected … without our phones.
A Perfect Date Night Is A Night Spent With Your Partner
After all, is said and done, the best thing about a date night at home is spending quality one-on-one time with your beloved. Everything else is just an extra!
