What I Love About This At-Home Spa Treatment
This home spa treatment is just the ticket to relax a bit before you start up the ol’ weekly grind. Your skin and body constantly renews itself, and this gives it the chance to do so. You don’t need to do all the steps, either. Whatever you feel comfortable doing. After all, this is all about you. I didn’t include things like a mani-pedi (I’ve always wanted to try this gorgeous pedicure foot spa) or a massage (like a full back massager with heat), but you can easily put those in the routine as well.

Drink Water (Or Wine!)
Water is the beginning of all life. Take care of your body, inside out, by pouring yourself a glass of cold water. You can add whatever you like to it. I like cucumber, lemon, or lime. But you can also have some tea. Green tea, for example, is so good for you. Since this your spa day, you can also indulge in a glass of wine, too. I found the best pairing is both.

Light Some Candles
For beautiful ambiance, try turning out the lights and then lighting tea candles. They don’t even need to be real candles. You can try out battery-operated ones, but I would love to try out these solar-powered tea candles.

Take A Bath With Essential Oils and Milk
Cleopatra famously bathed in sour donkey milk, which is super disgusting btw. However, you can replicate her bath at home sans donkey. Honestly, I think it’s freaking fantastic. The fuller-fat milk you use, the better. I like half-and-half, which is much cheaper than cream. And I also love to sprinkle rose petals in the water, which has some super awesome stuff in it, too. All these items are great for your skin tbh.
Yield: 1 bathCleopatra's Milk Bath
Deck out your home spa with this gorgeous bath recipe.
Prep Time 2 minutesTotal Time 2 minutesMaterials
- 2 cups of half-and-half
- 2 tablespoons white vinegar
- a few drop of essential oil or any other fragrance
- 1 cup Epsom or sea salt
- 1 tablespoon honey
Tools
- Just your imagination.
Instructions
- Add vinegar to half-and-half, and stir vigorously. Basically, you are making buttermilk (sour milk). It should get clumpy.
- Add the remaining ingredients and microwave, 30 seconds at a time, until honey is fully dissolved.
- Pour into your bath and enjoy.
Notes
Add real flowers for a total kick-ass experience. Try rose petals, or pretty much any dried or real flower. I love cutting some lavender sprigs, which lasts even through the winter in my climate.

Don’t Forget the Music (or a Good Book)
I personally opt for the book. I love going to the library (on the Friday before).
-
Exfoliate Your Face
Creating a clean slate, literally.
-
Face Mask
Next up is the face mask, which gets all the junk outta your pores.
-
Clarify Shampoo
Don’t forget your hair. Strip out all that junk off your hair.
-
Rice Hair Wash
And here is my super Korean secret: rice water.
-
Deep Condition
And another super secret: olive oil. The only issue is that it is oily. It’s oil, after all! To combat this, I mix it with 3/4 conditioner and 1/4 olive oil. Then, take a minute long hot shower to rinse out your hair.
-
Skin Scrub
Korean women love to scrub the top layer right off.

Bonus: Lotion It Up
Don’t forget to nourish your skin! And don’t forget the Korean face mask!
