For my second blog post in the Bows, Bows, and Bows series, I am going to show everyone something super simple and super cute. In fact, you can remake this Bow Front T-shirt in like 10 minutes.
I’m not sure if I mentioned this before … the last three years, I have been in law school. That’s one of the biggest reasons that between 2015 and 2016, I didn’t have any posts. Well, I’m glad to say that in two short weeks, I will be done! Unfortunately, that also means 10 hour days studying for the Bar … sigh. I’m piling up some happiness by making myself some refashioned t-shirts before I take the “plunge” into never-never land.
Refashion a Plain T-Shirt with a Bow Front T-Shirt
Materials:
Starting with a plain blue t-shirt. I bought this about two sizes too big, so that I could refashion. Plus, it was only $1.50 for half-price day at the Salvation Army.
Using a well-fitted shirt, measure.
On the armpit, angle slightly down. I did this freehand.
Pin the sleeve seems together.
Sew the sleeve using a zig-zag stitch.
Line up the bottom of the shirt. You want to pin and cut the sides, paying careful attention to the bottoms.
Cut.
Make sure you cut the triangle out of the armpit.
Turn inside-out. I cut off the seam, because I wanted the end to be straight across.
Here’s the pile of extras.
Cut out a square out of the extra fabric and make a bow using my bow tutorial.
Put some fabric glue on the bottom side of the bow.
Now, add it to the shirt near the “V”! 🙂
The Final:
Would you wear this refashioned bow front t-shirt?
I’m a sucker for anything with bows so I love this! Your sewing skills are much better than mine but I love the idea of making a large t-shirt more fitted. Super cute! Visiting from Saturday Sharefest party.

You’re so talented – I love your “new” shirt with a bow. What I like most is the longer sleeves.

You are so clever, I swear you could take someones’s wardrobe when they are bored of it and totally transform it with your refashioning creative ideas. Actually it could be a whole business plan! Love how you make this T shirt look made to measure on you and so much more interesting than the plain original.

This is great! I really need to expand my sewing skills to include tailoring. I like the idea of using thrifted clothing to begin with. The look is great! Thanks for sharing your tutorial with us at Creatively Crafty #ccbg 🙂
