Craving a McD’s shake? Well, here’s a copycat shamrock shake recipe … with matcha! This knockoff is so good, you don’t need to leave your house. With some peppermint
A few weeks ago, I was sick as a dog. Â Multiple people told me that “something was going around.” Â Well, that something was awful. Â I don’t get sick very often, so I was even more awful. Â And for some reason, I get a huge sweet tooth whenever I am sick. Okay, who am I kidding. I always have one.
I think Shamrock Shakes were on my brain because of St. Patrick’s Day, and also everyone in my house was talking about how McDonald’s changed their shakes into “gourmet” shakes, which just means that they get to charge you 3x more than they previously did for exactly the same thing. Â Enter this “Matcha Shamrock Shake Knockoff Recipe.”
So I’m not going to lie. Â I was seriously thinking of going on a matcha shake diet. Â (This shake definitely does not qualify as a “diet” haha.)
I’ve heard great things about it. So I bought some matcha green tea leaf powder from Amazon, and had myself a cup of tea and honey. It was awful. I read that you needed to “whisk” it, because the powder kind of settles at the bottom, so I then bought a matcha whisk
.
This improved my tea only slightly. Â And, I’m also an avid coffee drinker. Â Unlike lots of people, I enjoy the taste of coffee, not the caffeine. Â So making a switch to matcha is difficult to say the least.
At any rate, you need all the antioxidants you can get when you’re sick, and this copycat shamrock shake recipe with matcha has plenty of it! Oh, and did I mention that I like Shamrock Shakes? 🙂

I just ordered Macha powder for the first time yesterday!
#twinklytuesday
Hope you like it! It took me a bit to get used to the taste and texture, and I had to order a Matcha bamboo whisk to make sure I wasn’t drinking clumps of it at the end of the drink lol.
How yummy does this look! My mummy going to try it for St Patricks Day! She’s Irish x #TwinklyTuesday

I love matcha for the taste and the caffeine boost! 🙂 This looks amazing – going to give it a go! #TwinklyTuesday
I ordered matcha from Amazon to and didn’t like it straight. Since then I have been trying to find other ways to use it since I can’t have and don’t like coffee but I need something to get me going in the morning. Will be giving this one a try.
Mummm…looks good! I haven’t had a shake in years!
Shamrock shakes are one of the best things about St Patrick’s day. It rates right up there with Guiness and Soda bread. Thank you for sharing your version, I would be able to eat this as long as I keep out the green food colouring, but it bet the green leaf powder would give it a green tinge.
I’m so glad you are feeling better, Maureen. Thank you for sharing this delicious shake with us at Hearth and Soul. I love that it has matcha in it. I’m not that keen on the taste of matcha but I’m trying to eat more of it, so this is perfect for me! Scheduled to pin, and featuring at The Hearth and Soul Link Party this week. Hope to see you there!
