How to Photograph a Seamless White Background

Here’s a simple product/blogging photography trick that you can use to create a seamless white background. This tip is a great way to make your photographs stand out, if you have an object that you would like to take a picture of, but you don’t want to use a flat-lay.

I have recently been testing out how to implement more stand-up product photography shots in the web site, but getting a white background can often be difficult. With any photography, it’s the light, light, and more light that makes the difference! But, even with low light, you can get some great photo shots of your blogging items. Here, I will take you through a simple photography trick that you can use even with low light … in fact, I intentionally shot this photograph in a gloomy, overcast day to help make the point. I made use of the on-camera flash, too.

The reason that I did this set up for today’s tutorial is to show you that you don’t need an expensive dSLR set up to achieve great photographs.

First, let’s clean the window … ewww, that’s pretty dirty. Hahaha.

Here’s my trusty little step stool. I love this stool. It’s great for flat-lays, and versatile enough for stand-up product shots, too.

Poster board on top, right up against the window.

Then, you just take a largish piece of white paper and drape it over the poster board, using scotch tape to attach it to the window. (Sorry, I was at a different store this week, and could only get paper with a handle cut out.)

And a very simple auto fix in Photoshop Elements. For those who like keyboard commands, it is Ctrl+Alt+T to bring up the auto fix box. Yes! Importing, cropping, and fixing took like a minute to do! Cuz nobody got time for that.
